The Comunio Internationalis Benedictinarum (CIB) website is a simple and informative site. Apparently this is a new site, although it doesn’t indicate (that I could find) when the change was made. Still, it seems to perform its function well.
I discovered the site when looking for background information for this month’s article about three Australian Good Sam Sisters being involved in the September international Benedictine women’s symposium. (see In Rome, Aussies share their talents)
I found the information simply, yet attractively, presented in a site that is easy to navigate and quite colourful but not garish. It gives good, relevant information without getting bogged down in detail.
Although the official languages of CIB are English and French, the site’s information is also available in Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
The information is refreshingly current.
A home-page link takes the visitor to a comprehensive coverage of the last international conference, held in Croatia in September last year. This include PFDs of significant addresses, a blog, powerpoint and photographs.
The site contains several albums of photographs and video clips from conferences and symposia. These, in themselves, are wonderfully descriptive and give life to the reality written about in the site that Benedictine life has taken on disparate forms for women in different parts of the world.
While the site is really one for connection among this diversity -- and as such is maybe more in-house than many website sites -- it is absorbing, instructive and worth a visit for anyone interested in the wider, international Benedictine women’s family.
