Sisters of the Good Samaritan are women who by their religious profession seek God in all things by reaching out with the compassion of the Good Samaritan.
Central to the life and work of the Sisters is the Benedictine tradition with its emphasis on maintaining a balance between prayer, work and leisure.
Prayer is especially important to the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. They pray together in the morning and in the evenings and each day take time to ponder the Word of God in the scriptures. When the Sisters pray, they do not just think of their own small needs, but hold one another and the whole of creation before God for praise and healing.
The Sisters believe they can make a difference in the world by walking with those who are marginalised and challenging unjust structures in today's society.
As professed religious, the Sisters commit themselves to the seeking of God and the service of others by the three traditional vows of conversion of life, stability and obedience.
They also commit themselves to living a simple lifestyle as celibate women willing and able to freely respond to the call to follow Christ.
The Sisters of the Good Samaritan live together in community. They support and encourage one another in the good times and the bad, united by the love of Christ.
