The community in Bacolod in the Philippines is rallying to restore City Heights Eco Park, which was severely damaged by the typhoons that devastated the region in November and December last year.
The park was established by the Good Samaritan Sisters with funding from the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific as part of the Creators of Hope initiative. The project began in 2020 when the volunteering mothers in the Good Samaritan Outreach Centre began cleaning the park each week to help minimise plastic waste.
In 2024, 20 members of St Christopher’s Parish, Syndal, in Melbourne travelled to Bacolod where they helped to create a new garden area at the Good Samaritan Kinder School and built playground equipment, including the creation of swings using old tires, a seesaw, and other fun equipment.

The ministries of the Sisters are supported by the Good Sams Foundation. Donations over $2 are tax deductible in Australia and can be made via the website.
